About
Unlike many designers who I have met over the years, I don’t profess to have been overly influenced by any record sleeves or a fashion movement. Hip Hop was my entry point in to world of graphic expression and corporate branding. Being a 8 year old break-dancer I watched the world as a motion blur of colour whilst spinning on my head. I was deeply inspired by Kung fu movies and doing an early form of parkour called ‘jumping across rivers’.
Being terribly hopeless at exams I found my love of graphics and the lack of a final exam fused harmoniously together in a BTEC Graphic design course at Hopwood hall college. And that was my sole reason to get into graphic design – no exams – hurray! I also managed to get through Uni without an exam and also without touching a computer. My early Hip hop experience as an amateur graffiti artist came in handy when we were introduced to Omnicrom’s and colour copying, and omnicromining on to colour copies.
As a professional designer and founder of a Sizzle media, Attiks work had been influential, I was obsessed to work for them at one point and in between career jumps I came very close. After submitting a rather comical letter of application I was asked to come for an interview, which resulted in several sleepless nights and a very nervous entrance to the then Huddersfield HQ. I left with some promised freelance work and half a dozen ATTIK posters under my arm – Jackpot!
At my various jobs I progressed from junior designer, to designer, to senior designer to studio manager to Creative Director, always taking influence from the design stars. It was 3 years ago that i decided to give it a go for myself and here we have it. Sizzle Media limited – kick ass web design studio V2.0.
